Exercise and eating a balanced diet are two of the best ways to stay fit. However, they aren’t a perfect formula for looking red carpet perfect all the time. Body changes that come with age and pregnancy, such as fluctuating weight, can lead to fat accumulation in places impervious to exercise.

Nowadays, there are non-invasive solutions to those pesky spots. Cosmetic bodywork allows you to address targeted areas of fat accumulation without surgery. One of the newest treatments is SculpSure, which uses heat to melt away fat deposits.

What Is SculpSure?

SculpSure is an FDA-approved laser lipolysis treatment that shrinks fat deposits in the belly, flanks, back, thighs, and under the chin. The treatment uses diode-laser energy to destroy fat cells permanently.1

The laser energy from the SculpSure device heats the fat cells under the skin until they are too damaged to survive. Over the next several weeks, your body flushes the dead cells out through the lymphatic system. Experts say that one SculpSure session can destroy up to 24% of fat cells in the treated area.2

SculpSure is completely non-invasive, with no downtime and minimal discomfort. You can get the treatment in your doctor’s office, which only takes about 25 minutes. After the treatment, you can return to normal activity immediately.3

SculpSure is suited for people at a healthy weight who want to reduce fat in a targeted area. It is a body sculpting treatment and not meant for weight loss. Weight gain after treatment can affect previously treated areas, so weight management is key to maintaining SculpSure results.4

SculpSure vs CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is another type of body contouring treatment. Unlike SculpSure, it uses cold temperatures to destroy fat cells for targeted fat reduction. The two procedures have similar pain levels and downtimes. Ask your doctor which procedure will be more effective for your particular needs.5

What to Expect When You Get SculpSure

During your SculpSure appointment, your doctor will ask you which areas you want to treat. Once you determine that, you may need to sit or lie down. Your doctor will apply special frames to the areas being treated.6

Next, the SculpSure machine is wrapped around you using an adjustable body belt that holds four applicators. They are then fitted to the frames.7

In the first four minutes of the treatment, the applicators will emit a cooling sensation. This protects your skin and keeps you more comfortable once the heat laser starts to treat the underlying fat. After that, the applicators will switch between cooling and heating. The treatment lasts for about 25 minutes.8

You may notice soreness, bruising, or redness at the treatment site immediately after SculpSure. Ice packs, cold compress, and over-the-counter pain relievers can ease any discomfort.9

Results may be visible after six weeks, and some people may need multiple sessions spaced two months apart to get the desired results. The average SculpSure cost is $2000.10
